Marbella beaches

Marbella’s beaches are marked as some of the most beautiful on the Costa del Sol. It’s no surprise that Marbella is one of the most popular coastal towns on this side of the country. There’s a large amount of sun hours and therefore plenty of opportunity to enjoy the beach throughout the year. Whether you’d like to stroll along the promenade, sunbathe, swim, or build sand castles with your kids, Marbella’s sandy beaches make it all possible.

Easily reachable

From Málaga you can easily fly to many major cities in the UK and Europe as a whole. There are also various easy ways to travel between Málaga and Marbella. Daily shuttle buses take you to your place of destination within the hour. Apart from this you can also take the train or take your own (rental) car. It couldn’t be easier.

Surrounding nature

As well as the beautiful hills that surround Marbella, there are also two stunning national parks nearby. In the former noble hunting grounds of Doñana you can spot countless migratory birds who are taking a rest on their long journey. The swampy delta area doesn’t contain any roads and very few houses and is therefore perfect for peaceful walks. Another nearby well-known national park is Sierra Nevada. The nature reserve is especially famous for its rich flora and fauna. Feel like a change of climate? This national park is the place to be.

The weather

One of the reasons people prefer life in Marbella is the weather. The climate is a temperate Mediterranean one and is also influenced by the Mediterranean sea. This means that the temperature in Marbella is pretty much always pleasant: it’s never very cold in winter and never extremely hot in summer. In winter the average temperature is about 16 °C and in summer it’s about 25-30 °C. Living in Marbella, the weather rarely turns against you.

Neighbouring celebrities

Always wondered how the rich and famous live their lives? Marbella’s jet set consists of famous actors, pop stars, oil magnates and football players from around the globe. Ever since the 50s the well-to-do have been known to visit this once sleepy fisherman’s village. Before you know it, you’ll be bumping into the likes of Antonio Banderas or Eva Longoria. The record low temperature in Malaga is –3.8 °C and the Malaga record high is 44.2 °C. The World Health Organisation describes the climate of the Costa del Sol as being one of the best in the world. The summers are extremely hot but the breezes from the sea make it comfortably hot rather than unbearable. The winters are cool but not too cold. Whilst there are rainy seasons a lot of rain falls at night so it’s not unusual to be outdoors in December, walking on empty beaches under clear blue skies in a T-shirt and shorts.

This climate can be very beneficial for sufferers of rheumatism, asthma, bronchitis and other respiratory problems. In fact there is a rise in health tourism on the Costa del Sol; wellness spas and retreats are becoming very popular. According to The Daily Mail, researchers from the European Centre for Environment and Human Health have studied beach living and concluded that, on average, the closer we live to the sea, the more likely we are to report good health.

Beach

Being by the beach sometimes forces you away from technology and the frantic pace that technology brings to life. You will find when you are living in Marbella you will take time out more frequently for this because nature is on the doorstep.

Families play together more and lovers can enjoy time together on the beach. Swimming in the ocean can help heal cuts and grazes in your skin. The use of sun lotions and after sun lotions moisturise your skin making it feel soft.

There is nothing more relaxing and rejuvenating than the sound of the ocean and it’s really refreshing to doze on the shore. You tend to drink more water when you live by the sea. Perhaps this is because of the sea air, and this is good for flushing out the toxins in your body.
